History, melodies, surroundingsAlthough Keisei Electric Railway, which runs in parallel, already had Shin-Yawata and Yawata stations (both now Keisei Yawata Station), there was no station on the Sōbu Main Line, and the establishment of a new station was one of the requests of the former Yawata Town, with the station name originating from the town name, and to avoid duplication with Yawata Station on the Kagoshima Main Line in Fukuoka Prefecture, it was named Hon-Yawata.
