The station opened as "Muskashi High School Temporary Stop" in conjunction with the establishment of the old-system Musashi High School, now Musashi University and Musashi High School and Junior High School, due to its founder Kanejiro Nezu being a shareholder of Musashino Railway, the predecessor to the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.
