DATA Line Data Corrections 14 September 2026

Keisei Main Line Rebuilt: Three stations that are not on this line were listed on it — 京成幕張 and 京成幕張本郷 belong to the Keisei Chiba Line, and 検見川浜 is a JR Keiyō Line station with no Keisei service at all. The two real stations they had displaced, 船橋競馬場 (KS24) and 谷津 (KS25), are restored, and every code from 京成津田沼 onward has been corrected — the whole line was numbered one too high.
Keisei Chiba Line Rebuilt: The line listed 5 stations where it really has 10, and two of those five were not on it: 千城台 is a Chiba Urban Monorail terminus, and 京成大和田 belongs to the Main Line. A sixth entry, "Keisei-Chiba-Chuo", was an invention that merged 京成千葉 and 千葉中央 into one station. All ten real stations are now listed.
Fukutoshin Line No Longer Stops at Shinjuku: The Fukutoshin Line runs 東新宿 → 新宿三丁目 → 北参道; it does not serve Shinjuku Station. A duplicated station entry had been propagating into the transfer table, which was offering 20 interchanges to a line that does not stop there. Removed.
Fabricated Transfers Removed: Ten transfer connections generated by the bad line data are gone, including six at 検見川浜 — a single-line station that was advertising connections to two railways it has never been served by.
Station Names Corrected: Three Keisei Main Line stations carried wrong English names: 千住大橋 was "Senboku" (a city in Akita), 京成大和田 was "Keisei-Ookubo" (a different station), and 国府台 was "Kokufuda". Each had also created a duplicate station page, splitting the platform data away from the page the line linked to.
Karasuyama Line Numbering Removed: The Karasuyama Line has no official station numbering — neither the line nor its stations carry a 駅番号. The KR01–KR10 codes shown here were invented, so they have been removed rather than guessed at. 仁井田 was also displaying "(栃木県)" as its name, a stray Wikipedia disambiguator.

HOTFIX Photo Loading & Contribution Fixes 12 September 2026

Photos Would Not Load for Some Visitors: For ten days, anyone whose browser does not send the Sec-Fetch-Site header — older iPhone Safari, older Android browsers, in-app browsers, some privacy proxies — was refused access to community photos on every station and line page. They simply saw nothing, with no error. Affected dozens of pages and is now fixed.
Contributions Are Checked Before They Are Filed: The contribution form accepted completely empty submissions and filed them for review. Every form is now validated for real content, and tells you exactly what is missing instead of a generic failure. History entries without a year are caught up front — previously they were accepted and then silently discarded.
Security Check Added to Line Edits: The line editing form had no bot check wired to it, which would have rejected every submission the moment the check was switched on.

RELEASE Japanese Edition — 日本語版 8–11 September 2026

A Real Japanese Version of the Site: Station, line, hub and directory pages are now available in Japanese at /ja, written from the Japanese source data rather than machine-translated from English. A language toggle in the navigation switches between the two and keeps you on the same page.
Japanese Station & Line Directories: Full A–Z browsing in Japanese for every station and every line.
Japanese Edition Mark: The Japanese edition carries its own 鉄 favicon, distinct from the English TW monogram, so the two are identifiable at a glance in a tab strip.

RELEASE Community Photos — Instant & Full Resolution 9–11 September 2026

Photos Appear Straight Away: Photos of trains and stations are now checked automatically and published without waiting for a human to approve them. Anything the check is unsure about, or that looks unsafe, still goes to a person. Previously every single photo waited in a queue.
Uploads Survive Bad Signal: Uploading on patchy mobile data used to fail outright. Uploads now retry on their own, show real progress, and no longer give up on a single dropped connection.
Full Resolution Kept: Photos were being quietly shrunk to 2000px on the long edge — roughly halving a normal phone photo. The limit is now 4096px, so a 2160×3840 photo is stored exactly as shot.

DATA Station Identity & Honesty Pass 9–10 September 2026

94 Duplicate Station Codes Fixed: A station code cannot mean two different places, but 94 did — printing the same roundel on stations hundreds of kilometres apart. All 94 collisions resolved; codes that could not be verified against a trustworthy source were removed rather than guessed.
Station Name Collisions Corrupting Maps: Stations that share a romanized name but not their kanji were being merged into one another, corrupting route maps, transfers and station pages.
Invented Facts Removed: Station facts with no source behind them are no longer displayed. A fake status pill and a set of invented transfer walking times have been removed, and operator pages added with real, sourced company data.
A–Z Station Directory: Every station is now reachable by browsing, not just by search.

PATCH Route Planner & Map Accuracy 2 September 2026

Long Routes Now Solve: Journeys such as Kamakura → Narita returned no result. Two causes: the search discarded stations by distance too aggressively, and gave up after 18 changes. Both corrected.
Station Ordering Fixed on 10 Lines: Stations were listed out of sequence on ten lines, which made route maps draw track that does not exist.
Fares Beyond 50km: The fare tables stopped at 50km, so longer journeys could not be priced. Extended.
Departure Melodies Refreshed: 165 more stations now list their departure melody, sourced from individual station articles.

DATA Names, Coordinates & Accounts in the Navbar 30 August – 1 September 2026

1,701 Stations Given Their Kanji: Japanese names backfilled for 1,701 real stations, with a further 21 resolved individually against Google Places where no other source had them.
Routing Coordinates Backfilled: Missing coordinates filled in from verified station facts, so the geographic maps draw correctly.
Signed-in State Everywhere: Your account and admin state now show correctly in the navigation and footer across the whole site.

PATCH Station Page Rebuild, Melodies & Platforms 5–18 August 2026

Station Pages Restructured: Rebuilt around a facts rail and four reading groups, with the wiki content ahead of the tooling. The infobox now sits beside the content instead of inside it.
Station Facts from Wikidata: Real sourced facts pulled from Wikidata and Japanese Wikipedia infoboxes, attributed under CC BY-SA.
Bilingual Station History: A bilingual timeline covering 15,049 events across 1,284 stations, with all 3,425 history events professionally translated from Japanese.
Real Platform Numbers: Platform-level data extracted from Japanese Wikipedia のりば tables and ODPT, replacing fabricated and broken platform layouts.
Departure Melody Library: Per-line and per-station melody data, with makers attributed, artist and title split apart, and retired melodies flagged as ended.
Mobile & Display Fixes: Departure boards collapse on mobile, page-wide horizontal overflow fixed, Japanese destinations no longer wrap one character per line, and missing static assets return a proper 404 instead of a 500.
Delay Status for Six More Operators: Live delay status now covers Toei, Keisei, Odakyu, Tokyu, Tobu and Rinkai, and the homepage names which lines are delayed rather than just counting them.

RELEASE Accounts, Community Photos & Records 4–5 August 2026

Sign In with Javer ID: Single sign-on added, with a community photo feed, likes and comments.
Photo Uploads & Moderation: Upload photos of stations and lines, tagged to both a line and a station, with a moderation queue, an AI pre-filter and per-user rate limiting.
Admin Locked Down: The admin dashboard and all admin endpoints now require authentication, and fact-checker output is escaped.
Records Page: A new /rankings page for network records — first and last trains, oldest and newest stations.
Geographic Route Maps: Line pages now carry a real geographic map, plus line photos, rolling stock specifications and through-service diagrams.

RELEASE Route Planner — Native Nav 29 April – 1 June 2026

Station-to-Station Route Planning: A full journey planner built on the real network graph, with station autocomplete and interactive route cards.
Real Pathfinding: Graph search over the whole network with a binary min-heap, transfer penalties and caching, rather than a lookup table.
Live Data Every Two Hours: Automated ODPT synchronisation keeps the timetable and status data current.
Walking Transfers & Fares: A physical walking-transfer graph between platforms, and JR East fare tables calibrated to 2026 prices.

PATCH Branding & Data Integrity Update 28 April 2026

Official Logos Added: Replaced generic letter-badge placeholders with official operator logos for Tobu Railway, Tokyu Railway, and TWR Rinkai Line on the home page network cards.
Rinkai Line Fixed (Critical): Resolved a critical routing loop where the Rinkai Line would redirect to itself and show no data. Removed the conflicting Hub configuration and rebuilt the line page with a correct Route Map.
Rinkai Line Stations Corrected: Restored the full 8-station sequence (R01 Shin-Kiba → R08 Osaki), including the often-missing Tokyo Teleport and Shinagawa Seaside stops. Applied correct TWR branding color (#004194).
Shinkansen Network Rebuilt: Expanded all three Shinkansen lines from truncated placeholder data to full, accurate station sequences:
• Tokaido Shinkansen: 17 stations, Tokyo → Shin-Osaka
• Tohoku Shinkansen: 23 stations, Tokyo → Shin-Aomori
• Joetsu Shinkansen: 12 stations, Tokyo → Niigata
Shinkansen Transfers Fixed: Transfer badges at major hubs (Tokyo, Ueno, Omiya, Takasaki, Shinagawa) now correctly reflect connecting lines.

HOTFIX Routing & Missing Line Fixes 28 April 2026

Nippori-Toneri Liner Added: Added the missing Toei Nippori-Toneri Liner (NT01–NT13) with correct station list, branding color (#da6b10), and service pattern data.
Flexible URL Routing: Implemented a multi-step slug matching engine for line URLs supporting dashes, underscores, and fused formats — preventing 404 errors for complex line names like the Nippori-Toneri Liner.
Bug Report Modal Fixed: Corrected a broken script tag that blocked the timeline from rendering. Also fixed white-on-white text contrast issues in the "Report or Contribute" modal.
Admin Dashboard Link: Added a persistent Admin Dashboard link in the site footer for authenticated admin users, making it easier to review incoming bug reports and contributions.

RELEASE Production Launch & History Database 27 April 2026

Full Production Deployment: Site deployed to Cloudflare Workers at train-wiki.rehans-iqra.workers.dev. All static assets, API routes, and D1 database bindings confirmed live.
Station History Database: Completed a batch scrape of 966 stations from Japanese Wikipedia. Historical timeline events (沿革/年表 sections) ingested into Cloudflare D1 (train-wiki-db).
Station Timeline UI: Station pages now display an interactive historical timeline for events like openings, expansions, renovations, and incidents sourced from Wikipedia scrape data.
Community Contributions: Launched a crowdsourced contribution system. Users can submit historical events, accessibility audits, bug reports, and data corrections via an in-page modal form. All submissions are stored in D1 for admin review.

DATA Station Pages & Visual Overhaul 26 April 2026

Visual Platform Diagrams: Station pages now feature a visual track-and-platform layout showing Inbound/Outbound platform numbers and peak frequency estimates per serving line.
Quick Facts Bar: A prominent "Quick Facts" summary bar was added to station pages, showing Total Platforms, Connected Lines, Opened Year, Daily Riders, and History event count at a glance.
Official Line Badges: Transfer badges on route maps now use operator-accurate styling — circular badges for Tokyo Metro, bordered squares for Toei, solid squares for JR, and diamond-style for Shinkansen.
Mobile Hamburger Menu: Implemented a fully functional mobile navigation menu with smooth open/close animations and proper backdrop behaviour for sub-768px viewports.
Dark/Light Theme Toggle: Added a persistent theme toggle that saves preference to localStorage and applies on load without a flash of unstyled content.

PATCH Keisei & Timetable Fixes 23 April 2026

Mock Timetable Generator: Replaced broken repetitive "00:00 ghost" timetable entries with a deterministic staggered schedule generator, producing realistic departure times for all Keisei stations.
Keisei Network Audit: Audited all Keisei Electric Railway station data. Fixed missing stations and corrected transfer badge assignments across the Narita Airport corridor.
API Security: Protected the /api/contribute endpoint with authentication middleware. Admin routes locked behind session-based access control.

Site Launched: Japanese Transit Wiki goes live. Core network coverage includes JR East, Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway, Keisei, Tokyu, Odakyu, Tobu, and Shinkansen lines.
