Inazawa Station (稲沢駅) is a station with a station building over the tracks in Inazawa, Aichi Prefecture. Central Japan Railway Company and Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight) run it. It opened on 5 August 1904 as a station of the national railway.
History
The national railway opened Inazawa Station on 5 August 1904. On 18 April 1907 the double track was laid from the old Kiyosu Station, through here, to Kisogawa Station. On 16 January 1925 the Inazawa marshalling yard opened, and a single-track Inazawa Line was laid from Nagoya Station to here. On 1 October 1936 the Inazawa Line was made double-track.
In March 1953 the station moved into a second-generation station building. On 11 November 1953 the section from Nagoya to here was electrified. On 20 July 1955 the section from here to Maibara was electrified. The station square was completed on 15 May 1965. Parcel delivery ended on 1 October 1969. Parcel handling ended on 1 February 1984. The Inazawa marshalling yard closed in November 1986.
On 1 April 1987 the national railway was split up. JR Central and JR Freight took over the station, and JR Central contracted the station duties to JR Freight. In July 1987 JR Central assigned its own station staff. On 30 March 1998 the Inazawa Line was electrified as part of a Tōkaidō Line freight capacity project. On 22 April 2000 the elevated station building and a free passage were completed. On 7 April 2003 the east station square was completed. TOICA could be used from 25 November 2006.
On 31 January 2024 the JR ticket counters closed. On 1 February 2024 the station became unstaffed all day, as a customer support service was introduced, in exchange for a reserved-seat ticket machine with support.
