Kishibe Station (岸辺駅) in Suita, Osaka, is run by West Japan Railway Company and is on the JR Kyoto Line. It opened on 11 April 1947.

History

Kishibe opened on 11 April 1947 as a passenger-only stop between Senrioka and Suita stations, near the Suita marshalling yard. On 6 June 1947 an imperial train arrived at and left from Kishibe, when Emperor Showa visited the Suita yard. A reinforced concrete station building was finished on 25 June 1970.

Luggage handling ended on 1 February 1984. On 1 April 1987 the station passed to West Japan Railway Company (JR West). On 13 March 1988 the line was given the name JR Kyoto Line (JR京都線). Automatic ticket gates came into use on 19 July 1997.

A train control system and display boards were added to the platforms on 29 July 2002. ICOCA became usable on 1 November 2003. The station was moved into a bridge station building in stages. On 17 October 2009 the ticket office and gates were moved, and on 17 January 2010 some platforms were moved to temporary platforms. On 17 March 2012 the bridge station opened in temporary use, with lifts, escalators and a Midori ticket machine. The north exit and north station square opened on 21 May 2012.

Heart-In (ハート・イン) opened inside the station on 23 September 2013. An arrival melody was introduced on 12 March 2015. The south square renovation was finished on 14 March 2015, which completed the bridge station project. Station numbering began on 17 March 2018. On 17 November 2018 the commercial building VIERRA岸辺健都 opened north of the station, linked to the concourse by a long north-south passage.

The Midori ticket window closed on 30 November 2021. From 1 December 2021 Midori Ticket Machine Plus (みどりの券売機プラス) machines were in use.
