Minami-Koshigaya Station (南越谷駅) is an elevated station in Koshigaya, Saitama, on the Musashino Line. East Japan Railway Company runs it. It opened on 1 April 1973.
History
The station opened on 1 April 1973 as a Japanese National Railways station. It was one of the stations where automatic ticket gates were tested when it opened. On 23 July 1974 Shin-Koshigaya Station opened on the Tōbu Isesaki Line, and the two stations became a transfer point. On 1 April 1987 the station became part of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) when the national railways were split up and privatised. The Suica IC card became usable on 18 November 2001.
Renovation work began in April 2011. The north exit closed on 15 September 2011. A lift linking the ticket gates and platform 2 was added around 2009. A second lift, linking the ticket gates and platform 1, was added on 14 April 2012. The toilets moved from the mezzanine to the gate level on 8 May 2012.
On 11 September 2012 the station office was renovated, and the ticket machines and the Midori no Madoguchi window moved. On 2 November 2012 the ticket gates moved west and the concourse was widened. A down escalator from platform 1 to the mezzanine was added on 19 February 2013. A multi-function toilet was added in June 2013. The escalators between the gate level and the mezzanine were increased to two on 23 August 2013. The renovation was completed in February 2014.
An IC-card-only ticket gate opened on 20 March 2021. On 23 July 2022 a reserved-seat ticket machine that can talk (話せる指定席券売機) was introduced, and the Midori no Madoguchi became a temporary window.
