Musashi-Mizonokuchi Station (武蔵溝ノ口駅) is a station in Kawasaki, on the Nambu Line. East Japan Railway Company runs it. It opened on 9 March 1927.
History
Musashi-Mizonokuchi Station opened on 9 March 1927, when the Nambu Railway opened between Kawasaki and Noborito. On 1 April 1944 the Nambu Railway was nationalised, and the station became part of the Nambu Line of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Freight handling ended on 1 March 1976. A Midori no Madoguchi window opened on 1 July 1976. Parcel handling ended on 14 March 1985.
On 1 April 1987 the station became part of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Automatic ticket gates were installed at the permanent gate on 2 November 1993 and at the temporary gate on 24 February 1994. On 9 August 1998 the station became an over-the-tracks station, when the north-south free passage opened. The Suica IC card became usable on 18 November 2001.
On 9 April 2011 the station became a stop for the revived Nambu Line rapid service. The start had first been set for an earlier date, but it was moved back because of the Great East Japan Earthquake. On 17 April 2017 the station became one of JR East's model Eco-Station (エコステ) stations.
The Byū Plaza (びゅうプラザ) closed on 31 August 2019. Platform doors began on two of the platforms on 19 April 2024. On 1 July 2024 the departure melody changed to 'Jupiter' by Ayaka Hirahara. On 24 December 2024 smart platform doors started on the third platform.
