Nakagami Station (中神駅) is an over-the-tracks station in Akishima, Tokyo, on the JC Ōme Line. East Japan Railway Company runs it. It opened on 16 May 1908.
History
In February 1908 the Ōme Railway (青梅鉄道, later the Ōme Electric Railway) applied to build a new Nakagami stop, after requests from people along the road. Approval followed on 25 February 1908. Operations began on 16 May 1908. The opening was reported on 19 July 1908.
On 1 April 1944 the Ōme Electric Railway was nationalised under the wartime purchase rule, and the station became a station of the Ōme Line of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Parcel handling ended on 1 February 1971. Freight handling ended on 1 July 1978. On 1 April 1987 the station became part of JR East.
The over-the-tracks station building came into use on 26 December 1989, in the first year of Heisei. Automatic ticket gates were installed on the east exit on 7 October 1993. The Suica IC card became usable on 18 November 2001.
On 25 March 2005 the Midori no Madoguchi closed, and a ticket machine called Moshimoshi Kaerukun was installed. A mini station building opened on 4 August 2010. On 22 February 2012 the Kaerukun machine was removed and a multi-function ticket machine was installed. The Akishima City free passage opened on 1 July 2012. A reserved-seat ticket machine was installed on 19 December 2014.
