Nakagawara Station (中河原駅) is an elevated station in Fuchū, Tokyo, run by Keio. It opened on 24 March 1925 as a station of the Tamanan Electric Railway (玉南電気鉄道).
History
The Tamanan Electric Railway opened the station on 24 March 1925. On 1 December 1926 it merged into the Keio Electric Railway (京王電気軌道). On 31 May 1944 the station was merged into Tokyu during the wartime consolidation of railways. On 1 June 1948 Keio Teito Electric Railway became independent from Tokyu. On 30 July 1974 the station was made elevated.
A preparatory association for redevelopment on the north side of the station was formed on 7 October 1984. The city planning decision for the redevelopment was made on 14 January 1988. Construction of the redevelopment building began on 23 March 1993. Work on the station square began in 1994.
The redevelopment building was completed on 1 February 1995 and opened the next day, on 2 February 1995. Life Fuchu Nakagawara store was its main tenant. The station square was completed and came into use in March 1995. The redevelopment project was completed in February 1996 with support from the national government, Tokyo and Fuchu city. The redevelopment association was dissolved on 19 March 1996.
In December 2004 the station building was renovated and an elevator was added as a barrier-free facility.
