Seibu-Kyūjō-mae Station (西武球場前駅) is in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture. Seibu Railway runs it. It opened on 1 May 1929 as Murayama Park Station (村山公園駅).
History
The station opened on 1 May 1929 as Murayama Park Station (村山公園駅) on the Musashino Railway's Yamaguchi Line. It was renamed Murayama Reservoir Edge Station on 1 March 1933 and Murayama Station in April 1941 because of the war. On 28 February 1944 the Yamaguchi Line was classed as non-essential and suspended. On 22 September 1945 the Musashino Railway absorbed the old Seibu Railway and became the present Seibu Railway.
Services resumed on 7 October 1951, when the station moved a short distance west and was renamed Sayamako Station (狭山湖駅). The line was renamed the Sayama Line. On 22 December 1959 the platform was extended and widened for the Sayama ski slope.
On 30 November 1978 the station moved west again to serve the new Seibu Lions baseball stadium, and became a dead-end station with several platforms. On 25 March 1979 it was renamed Seibu-Kyūjō-mae when the Seibu Lions Stadium opened. From 25 April 1985 the platforms for the new transit system on the Yamaguchi Line were used.
Automatic ticket gates were installed on 7 June 1993. In March 2002 the gate area was refitted with a counter-style walkway and a kiosk. The limited express Dome began on 1 September 2006, and express tickets went on sale at the window. On 7 April 2009 the departure melodies were changed to Hoero Lions.
On 22 July 2022 the departure melody changed to Chihei wo Kakeru Shishi wo Mita. On 1 April 2025 the station became a remote station, served by intercom, and ticket windows closed except during baseball games and concerts at the Seibu Dome.
