Susono Station (裾野駅) is a ground-level station in Susono, Shizuoka. Central Japan Railway Company runs it. It opened on 1 February 1889.
History
Susono Station opened on 1 February 1889 as Sano Station (佐野駅) on the government railway, when the line between Kōzu and Shizuoka opened. It handled passengers and freight. The station building was rebuilt in September 1907. On 12 October 1909 the line through the station was named the Tōkaidō Main Line. On 15 July 1915 the station was renamed Susono Station. An overpass was built in August 1915.
On 1 December 1934 the line between Atami and Numazu opened. The Kōzu–Susono–Numazu section of the Tōkaidō Main Line was then renamed the Gotemba Line. On 1 July 1968 the station yard was electrified, along with the Gotemba–Numazu section.
Freight handling ended on 10 May 1974. Parcel handling ended on 1 February 1984. On 1 April 1987 the station passed to Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). TOICA became usable on 13 March 2010.
On 17 March 2012 the limited express Asagiri stopped running into the station. Around 2013 the station's address was changed. A lift came into use on 25 February 2017.
A customer support service and a reserved-seat ticket machine with support are planned for the station in March 2027.
