Takashimadaira Station (高島平駅) is an elevated station in Takashimadaira, Itabashi ward, Tokyo. The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation runs it. It serves the Mita Line. It opened on 27 December 1968 as Shimura Station (志村駅).
History
In December 1968 the station stood in Yotsuba town, Itabashi ward, inside the Akatsuka district. Local residents objected strongly. They said the station was not in Shimura, and that the name was not suitable. On 27 December 1968 the station opened as Shimura Station, with the opening of the Toei Subway line then called Line Six.
In March 1969 an address system was introduced, and a new town name, Takashimadaira, was set for the area around the station. On 1 August 1969 the station was renamed Takashimadaira Station. On 6 May 1976, with the opening of the section to Nishi-Takashimadaira, the station became a midpoint station. On 1 July 1978 the line was renamed the Mita Line.
On 29 March 1999 a trial of movable platform barriers began on one platform. PASMO could be used from 18 March 2007. On 18 March 2016 a waiting room on the platform began use. On 1 April 2016 the station staff district was renamed, and Shimura-Sakaue Station was transferred to it from the Sugamo district.
The platform doors were stopped in stages in 2019. On 18 June 2019 they stopped on some platforms, and on 16 July 2019 they stopped on the others. They restarted on 7 September 2019 on some platforms and on 18 September 2019 on the rest.
