Tsukuba Station (つくば駅) is an underground station in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the Tsukuba Express (TX) line, run by the Metropolitan Intercity Railway Company. It opened on 24 August 2005.
History
The station opened on 24 August 2005. In 2006, its address was changed during a renumbering of land lots. It had been listed as Azuma 2-chome, 128, Tsukuba City, and became Azuma 2-chome, 4-1, Tsukuba City.
On 11 June 2006, a Tsukuba City general information centre was set up in the north-south free passage. In February 2007, a 'TX Room' was set up. In September 2021, Tsukuba City began a paid shared-bicycle trial called つくチャリ (Tsukuchari), with a cycle port in front of the station.
