Aihara Station (相原駅) is a ground-level station with an elevated concourse in Machida, Tokyo, on the Yokohama Line, run by East Japan Railway Company. It opened on 23 September 1908.
History
The Yokohama Railway opened the station on 23 September 1908, when its line between Higashi-Kanagawa and Hachiōji opened. The Railway Agency (鉄道院) leased the line from 1 April 1910. The Yokohama Railway was nationalized on 1 October 1917, and the station became a Yokohama Line station. Freight handling ended on 1 November 1958 and luggage handling on 10 April 1959. East Japan Railway Company took over on 1 April 1987.
Automatic ticket gates opened at the temporary west gate on 21 September 1994, and at the east gate on 29 September 1994. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001. The current elevated station building came into use on 1 June 2003.
The Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed on 28 February 2010. A remote station operating system was introduced on 2 February 2014. Bus service to the west square began on 28 March 2016. In March 2022 a timetable change ended the Sagami Line morning and evening trains to Hachiōji. Smart platform doors came into use on 26 November 2025.
