Fukuhara Station (福原駅) is in Kasama, Ibaraki. East Japan Railway Company runs it on the Mito Line. It opened on 1 December 1890 as a station of the Mito Railway (水戸鉄道).
History
Fukuhara Station opened on 1 December 1890 as a station of the Mito Railway (水戸鉄道). On 1 March 1892 it was transferred to the Nippon Railway (日本鉄道). It was acquired and nationalised on 1 November 1906. On 12 October 1909, when track names were set, it became a station on the Mito Line.
The old station building was completed in December 1923. Freight handling ended on 20 February 1970, and parcel handling ended on 1 March 1970. On 1 April 1970 the station became an entrusted station, with operations contracted to Mitosen Tsuun Co. (水戸線通運株式会社). On 1 February 1984 the station became one with no station staff assigned. On 1 April 1987 it became part of East Japan Railway Company (JR East), after the national railways were divided and privatised.
Suica became usable on 18 November 2001. Departure melodies were introduced on 14 March 2009. A new station building opened on 6 March 2013. Passing equipment (交換設備) stopped operating around August 2023. On 1 August 2024 Kasama City ended its simple entrusted ticket sales, and the station became unstaffed all day.
