Fusa Station (布佐駅) is an over-the-tracks station in Abiko, Chiba. East Japan Railway Company runs it. It is on the Narita Line. It opened on 1 April 1901.
History
Fusa Station opened on 1 April 1901 when the first Narita Railway's line from Narita to Abiko was completed. The station handled passengers and freight. On 1 September 1920 the Narita Railway was bought, and the station became a national railway station. Freight handling ended on 1 October 1962. In December 1970 the station building was rebuilt as a single-storey wooden building.
The Narita Line between Narita and Abiko was electrified on 28 September 1973. On 1 April 1987 the station became part of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). An over-the-tracks station building was completed on 12 April 1993. Automatic ticket gates came into use on 25 July 1995.
In February 1997 the station became a managed station of Kōhoku Station (湖北駅). The Suica IC card became usable on 18 November 2001. Escalators and lifts were installed at the south exit on 10 April 2005. Automatic announcements and departure melodies changed on 15 November 2005. Escalators and lifts were installed at the east exit on 31 March 2006.
On 1 April 2006 the staffed Midori no Madoguchi closed, and a ticket machine called Moshimoshi Kaerukun (もしもし券売機Kaerukun) began service. A lift was installed inside the ticket gates on 25 December 2006. From 1 April 2007 station operations were outsourced. Moshimoshi Kaerukun ended on 27 February 2012.
