Higashi-Hanno Station (東飯能駅) is in Hannō, Saitama Prefecture. East Japan Railway Company runs it on the Hachikō Line. Seibu Railway also has a platform here. It opened on 10 December 1931.
History
The station opened on 10 December 1931 as the terminus of the Hachikō South Line from Hachiōji. On the same day a Musashino Railway station, the predecessor of the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, opened next to it. A kiosk opened in front of the station on 11 February 1932. On 15 April 1933 the line extended to Ogose, and the station became a stop in the middle. The line was renamed the Hachikō Line on 6 October 1934.
In 1973 the station kiosk came under Railway Kōsai (鉄道弘済会). Freight handling ended on 21 July 1976, and parcel handling on 1 February 1984. JR East took over on 1 April 1987, and the kiosk closed that day. The Hachikō Line was electrified between Hachiōji and Komagawa on 16 March 1996. On 10 February 1999 an elevated station building opened, with the JR and Seibu ticket gates separated and JR automatic gates introduced.
On 6 October 2000 an east-west passage and an east exit opened. A Maruhiro store opened in the station building at that time, but it later closed because of poor sales. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001, and Seibu introduced PASMO on 18 March 2007. On 11 September 2009 the Maruhiro Hanno store moved into the station building.
Reserved-seat ticket machines were added on 23 December 2015. The Midori no Madoguchi counter closed on 29 February 2016. From 1 April 2024 the Seibu side became a remote station, served by intercom, and ticket sales at the window ended.
