Higashi-Murayama Station (東村山駅) is in Higashimurayama, Tokyo. Seibu Railway runs it. It opened on 21 December 1894 as Kumegawa Station on the Kawagoe Railway.

History

The station opened on 21 December 1894 as Kumegawa Station on the Kawagoe Railway. When the line to Kawagoe opened on 21 March 1895, Kumegawa Station closed. Higashimurayama Station opened on 6 August 1895. On 16 April 1927 the Murayama Line opened and a new station building was built. On 5 April 1930 a line opened from here to Murayama Reservoir-mae station, later Sayama Park.

Service between here and Sayama Park was suspended on 10 May 1944 and resumed on 1 April 1948. The line to Kokubunji was electrified on 5 November 1948. Double track ran to Yanase from 6 April 1950. Platforms for six-car up trains came into use on 21 April 1963.

The elevated station building and east rotary were completed on 20 October 1971. Platforms for ten-car trains came into use on 2 June 1975. Holiday-only fast express trains began stopping here on 17 March 1980. An automatic ticket gate was introduced on 9 September 1993. From 26 March 1998 the fast express passed through, and on 6 March 2007 it stopped here again. On 16 March 2013 the Limited Express Koedo began stopping here. On 24 December 2011 a local train from Seibuen to Seibu-Shinjuku derailed in the station yard.

Work to raise the tracks began in January 2015. On 25 March 2017 the platforms were rearranged. The elevated station building closed after the last train on 29 November 2019, and an underground passage opened on 30 November 2019. Demolition of the old building was complete in February 2021. On 26 June 2021 a statue of Ken Shimura was unveiled on the east side.
