Hon-Atsugi Station (本厚木駅) is an elevated station in Atsugi, run by Odakyu Electric Railway on the Odakyu Odawara Line. It opened on 1 April 1927 as Sagami-Atsugi Station.

History

The station opened on 1 April 1927 as Sagami-Atsugi Station, a stop for the direct express. Express trains began stopping here on 15 October 1927. The Shinchu Railway, now the Sagami Railway, began running trains into the station from Ebina on 25 November 1941. The station was renamed Hon-Atsugi on 1 June 1944. Express services were stopped during the war in November 1944, and in June 1945 the direct trains were ended and all locals ran the full line.

Semi-express trains began stopping here on 1 October 1946, and express trains returned on 1 October 1949. A commuter express began on 25 March 1955, and a commuter semi-express on 25 March 1960. The Shinchu Railway trains ended on 5 November 1964.

A Romancecar named Sagami began stopping here on 10 July 1968. The down line was raised in December 1974, and the up line on 30 January 1976. The elevated works were finished on 29 March 1977. Through services to the Chiyoda Line began on 31 March 1978. The Milord shopping complex opened in the station building on 23 March 1982.

Odakyu's first automatic fare machines were installed on 21 November 1982. The Asagiri Romancecar began stopping here on 1 February 1984. The Japanese National Railways were split up on 1 April 1987, and the Asagiri's through service went to JR Central. A wheelchair escalator was added inside the central ticket gates in September 1992. The Romancecar Ashigara began partial stops on 4 March 1995. An east-side elevator opened on 23 March 2003. From 11 December 2004 the rapid express and section semi-express began stopping here, and the Hakone was added to the Romancecar service.

Odakyu's first large-opening platform doors for limited express trains came into use on the down platforms on 18 February 2023, and on the up platforms on 30 September 2023. The Ikimono-gakari song Yell became the approach melody on 3 November 2010. Semi-express trains to Shin-Matsuda ended on 17 March 2012. The station received its numbering code in January 2014.
