Atsugi Station (厚木駅) is in Ebina, Kanagawa. Odakyu Electric Railway, East Japan Railway Company and Sagami Railway each have stations here. The lines served are the Sagami Line and the Odakyu Odawara Line.

History

On 1 April 1927 the Odawara Kyūkō Railway opened Kawaraguchi Station (河原口駅), now the Odakyu Atsugi station. The name refers to the riverbank of the Sagami River. In May 1928 the Sagami Railway began gravel extraction on the Sagami River bank at Nakanida (中新田) and laid a gravel line. In February 1929 the Shinchū Railway (神中鉄道) extended its line and opened Nakanida-guchi platform next to Kawaraguchi. On 29 April 1931 the Sagami Railway opened to Hashimoto.

In 1937 a short connecting line opened between Ebina Kokubu station and Nakanida stop. On 1 May 1942 Odakyu was absorbed into Tokyo Kyūkō Railway (Dai-Tōkyū). On 1 April 1943 the Sagami Railway absorbed the Shinchū Railway. On 1 June 1944 the Sagami Line was nationalised and became a Ministry of Transport line. A new Atsugi platform opened near Tokyu's Kawaraguchi station, which was renamed Atsugi.

On 1 June 1948 Odakyu became independent of Tokyu again. On 13 July 1971 Odakyu's up trains moved to a new station after the Sagami River bridge was rebuilt, and the down trains followed. On 1 February 1984 the JNR station ended luggage handling. On 1 November 1986 freight at the JNR station ended, but freight links with JR Freight continued. On 1 April 1987 the Sagami Line Atsugi station became part of JR East.

On 1 August 2002 Suica became usable on JR. On 11 December 2004 Odakyu added a section semi-express service, which stopped here. On 11 March 2007 the Sagami Line platform moved to the west side and the level crossing inside the station was removed. On 25 November 2009 the Shinchū Railway's Ebina station opened. Shinchū Railway's passenger service at its Atsugi station ended, and its trains no longer passed through Atsugi station. On 17 March 2018 Odakyu added a commuter semi-express service, which stopped here.
