The station opened, originally as a station on the Kawagoe Railway, and is one of the oldest stations on the Seibu Railway, after Kokubunji Station, Ogawa Station, and Higashi-Murayama Station (formerly Kume-gawa Temporary Station), with other contemporaneously opened stations including Tokorozawa Station, Sayama Station (now Sayama City Station), and Kawagoe Station (now Hon-Kawagoe Station).
