Kaihimmakuhari Station (海浜幕張駅) is an elevated station in Chiba city, on the Keiyō Line. East Japan Railway Company runs it. It opened on 3 March 1986.
History
Kaihimmakuhari Station opened on 3 March 1986 as a Japanese National Railways station. On 1 April 1987 it became part of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). On 16 March 1991 it became a stop for rapid trains. Two new platforms were built on 1 December 1995. A Byū Plaza (びゅうプラザ) opened on 19 March 1997.
On 2 December 2000 some limited express trains, Wakashio and Sazanami, began to stop here. Musashino Line trains began running through the station, and turnback facilities came into use. The Suica IC card became usable on 18 November 2001. Departure melodies were introduced on 26 March 2005.
A first group of stores in Perie Kaihin-Makuhari opened early on 1 March 2013. The station renovation was completed, and Perie Kaihin-Makuhari opened in full on 13 September 2013.
The Midori no Madoguchi closed on 31 October 2020. A talking reserved-seat ticket machine was introduced on 1 November 2020. A station shared office called STATION BOOTH opened inside the JR gates on 27 November 2020. Station operations were outsourced on 1 December 2020.
On 22 March 2025 a park gate opened, and a new area of Perie Kaihin-Makuhari opened.
