Makuharitoyosuna Station is in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. East Japan Railway Company (JR East) runs it on the Keiyō Line. It opened on 18 March 2023.
History
In 1991 the Chiba Prefectural Enterprise Agency asked JR East to build a station here. In 1994 a preparatory alliance for the station was formed, including the enterprise agency and companies moving into the area. In 1998 the alliance stopped its activities. On 5 December 2013 the enterprise agency said, in an answer to a question in the Chiba Prefectural Assembly, that it would restart the preparatory alliance.
On 25 December 2015 the enterprise agency, Chiba City, Narashino City and AEON Mall set up a survey committee for a new station in the Makuhari New City expansion area. The committee held its first meeting on 19 January 2016. On 25 December 2017 Chiba Prefecture, Chiba City and AEON Mall set up a new-station council.
On 12 January 2018 the council asked JR East for a new station. On 31 January 2018 the council set the share of the station construction costs. On 29 March 2018 the council and JR East discussed signing a basic agreement. On 20 April 2018 the council and JR East signed the basic agreement.
In late May 2020 preparatory works began. On 15 May 2020 it was announced that construction of this station would start. In late July 2020 full-scale construction began. In June 2021 a public call for station names was held. On 29 October 2021 JR East decided on the name Makuharitoyosuna.
The station opened on 18 March 2023 between Shin-Narashino and Kaihin-Makuhari on the Keiyō Line.
