Nakayama is a railway station in Tokyo.

Nakayama Station (中山駅) in Yokohama is run by East Japan Railway Company and serves the Yokohama Line and the Yokohama Municipal Subway Green Line. The JR station opened on 23 September 1908.

History

The station opened on 23 September 1908 when the Yokohama Railway's line from Higashi-Kanagawa to Hachioji opened. The Railway Agency (鉄道院) leased the line in April 1910, and it was nationalised on 1 October 1917. A fire destroyed the station on 8 January 1918. The cause was a cloth that a station attendant had left beside a stove, which then caught fire.

Freight handling stopped on 16 January 1960. On 24 March 1983 the station moved into a bridge station building. The cost was shared by the national railways, Yokohama City and a local land readjustment group. Luggage handling also ended. The station building Ronron Nakayama (ロンロン中山) opened on 22 November 1985.

JR East took over the station on 1 April 1987 after the national railways were split up. Automatic ticket gates were installed on 27 September 1994. On 4 December 1999 most rapid-train overtaking moved to Machida Station, leaving only one up overtaking service here. On 1 October 2000 a crossing accident with casualties took place at the nearby Kawawa crossing, where the Yokohama Line crosses a city road. Suica came to the station on 18 November 2001.

On 1 March 2005 the station came under the management of Nagatsuta Station. On 18 March 2006 Kikuna was added as a rapid stop, and up rapid trains again overtook trains here. On 30 March 2008 the Yokohama Municipal Subway Green Line station opened. On 1 May 2012 the subway offered free docomo Wi-Fi.

On 29 August 2013 Ronron Nakayama was renamed Beans Nakayama (ビーンズ中山). The Midori ticket window closed on 15 December 2022, and a talking reserved-seat ticket machine started on 16 December 2022. On 28 July 2023 smart platform doors began on the first and third platforms of the Yokohama Line. On 17 December 2025 the second platform got smart platform doors.
