Tokaichiba Station is in Midori Ward, Yokohama. East Japan Railway Company (JR East) runs it on the Yokohama Line. It opened on 1 April 1979.
History
On 20 August 1977 a local briefing about the new station was held at a junior high school in Yokohama. On 26 March 1979 a completion ceremony for the Yokohama Line double-track promotion alliance was held at this station. The station opened on 1 April 1979, together with Naruse Station, which faces it across Nagatsuda Station.
When the station opened, a city bus route began running between Tōka-ichiba Station and the Wakabadai turnaround. In exchange, a city bus route between Nakayama Station and Tōka-ichiba Danchi Chūō was abolished. On 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR East. An automatic ticket gate was brought into use on 23 August 1994.
Suica became usable on 18 November 2001. A reserved-seat ticket machine began operating around September 2004.
The Ajisai Chaya shop opened in 2005. The KIOSK closed on 28 February 2005, and NEWDAYS opened on 18 March 2005. Elevators and a down escalator were completed and brought into use in March 2007.
The Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed on 29 February 2012, and station operations were contracted out on 15 May 2012. ATOS began operating on 12 July 2015. Smart home doors began operating on 12 September 2023. Shuttle buses for the 2027 International Garden Expo (EXPO 2027) are planned to use this station as a JR shuttle bus stop in 2027.
