Oami Station (大網駅) is an elevated station in Oamishirasato, Chiba, run by East Japan Railway Company on the Sotobō Line and the Tōgane Line. It opened on 20 January 1896.
History
The Boso Railway (房総鉄道) opened the station on 20 January 1896 for passengers and freight. At that time it was in the neighboring village of Yamabe, not in Oami town. The line was extended to Ichinomiya (now Kazusa-Ichinomiya) on 17 April 1897 and to Togane on 30 June 1900. The Imperial Railways Agency took it over on 1 September 1907.
Freight handling ended on 1 July 1971. On 27 May 1972 the station moved to its present site, which removed a switchback. Luggage handling ended on 1 February 1984. On 1 April 1987 the station passed to East Japan Railway Company.
An automatic ticket gate opened on 4 October 1995. In March 1996 a track link was closed when freight handling ended at Shin-Mobara Station, and the link was removed in December 1996. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001.
LED departure boards were installed at the gates and on each platform in February 2009. A slope linking the Sotobō Line platform with the Tōgane Line platforms was completed on 14 March 2014. The Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed on 31 October 2022.
