Takasaka Station (高坂駅) is a ground-level station in Higashimatsuyama, Saitama Prefecture. Tobu Railway runs it on the Tobu Tojo Line. It opened on 1 October 1923.
History
Takasaka Station opened on 1 October 1923. In October 1955 private industrial sidings opened between Takasaka and Takamoto, serving Chichibu Mining (秩父鉱業) and Nihon Cement. The sidings closed on 31 July 1984.
In 1986 the station building was rebuilt. The old down track was removed, the island platform was widened, and the down line moved to where the northernmost siding had been. During the work the station ran with side platforms. Before the rebuild, the station had a footbridge linking its platforms and several sidings on the west side where goods wagons were parked. A new west exit opened in April 1986. In 1987 the station won the first Saitama Architecture and Landscape Award (さいたま建築景観賞).
On 1 March 1992 automatic ticket gates were installed, making it one of the first stations on the Tobu Tojo Line to have them. In February 1997 an escalator was installed. In 1999 the station was chosen for the Kanto Stations Selection (関東の駅百選).
On 15 October 2009 departure melodies began. On 18 March 2010 a lift and an accessible toilet were installed. On 31 March 2014 the toilets and ticket machine area were renovated. On 27 January 2016 a secondary station name, 'Daito Bunka University Higashi-Matsuyama Campus Mae' (大東文化大学東松山キャンパス前), was introduced.
On 18 March 2023 the station became a stop for Kaisoku Kyūkō (快速急行) trains. From 1 September 2023 the departure melody was changed to a passage from the Daito Bunka University school song, for a limited period, to mark the university's centenary. On 2 September 2024 the departure melodies changed to Botan Ondo (ぼたん音頭) for trains going down and the Higashi-Matsuyama city song (東松山市歌) for trains going up. This was for a limited period, to mark the city's anniversary.
