Takenotsuka is a railway station in Tokyo.

Takenotsuka Station (竹ノ塚駅) is in Adachi, Tokyo. Tobu Railway runs it on the Tobu Skytree Line. It opened on 21 March 1900.

History

The station opened on 21 March 1900. On 31 May 1962 Tobu began through services with the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.

A station building opened on 3 November 1968. The line was quadrupled between Kita-Senju and this station on 2 July 1974, and between here and Soka on 9 August 1988.

On 15 March 2000 a crossing accident in the station yard caused deaths and injuries. The walkways of one crossing were widened in June 2000. The other crossing was automated on 24 September 2000, and the first crossing on 29 September 2000. A lift was added on the west side on 24 September 2000.

Escalators were added on the west side in February 2001, inside the gates in February 2002, and in the station building in December 2002. A lift was added on the east side on 26 May 2003, and the station building was reopened as T Box on 29 May 2003. A footbridge with a lift came into use at the crossing on 9 March 2006.

Under the continuous grade separation project, the city planning decision was made in March 2011, and the project was approved in December 2011. On 16 March 2013 the daytime semi-express trains were changed to local trains that run between here and Asakusa. Temporary underground gates and platforms came into use on 27 August 2017. The new elevated station opened on 20 March 2022, and platform doors came into use on 16 April 2022. The EQUiA Takenotsuka shopping area under the viaduct opened on 23 May 2024.
