Tōgane Station (東金駅) is a ground-level station in Tōgane, Chiba. East Japan Railway Company runs it. It is on the Tōgane Line. It opened on 30 June 1900.
History
Tōgane Station (東金駅) opened on 30 June 1900 as a station of the Bōsō Railway, handling passengers and freight. At first it was the terminus. On 1 September 1907 the Bōsō Railway was bought, and the station became a national railway station. On 12 October 1909 the section between Ōgi and here was named the Tōgane Line. On 1 November 1911 the Tōgane Line was extended from here to Narutō.
On 25 November 1926 the Kujūkuri Tramway opened from here to Katakai Station, later Kazusa-Katakai Station. It was renamed the Kujūkuri Railway on 24 March 1932. The section between this station and Kazusa-Katakai closed on 1 March 1961.
The whole Tōgane Line was electrified on 28 September 1973. Freight handling ended on 1 December 1981. Parcel handling ended on 1 February 1984. On 1 April 1987 the station became part of JR East. The Suica IC card became usable on 18 November 2001.
Departure melodies began on 31 March 2005. On 1 April 2006 the staffed Midori no Madoguchi closed, and a ticket machine called Moshimoshi Kaerukun was installed. That machine ended on 14 March 2012. On 20 November 2014 station operations were outsourced. The east exit opened on 14 March 2026.
