Umegaoka Station (梅ヶ丘駅) is an elevated station in Setagaya, Tokyo, on the Odakyu Odawara Line, run by Odakyu Electric Railway. It opened on 1 April 1934.
History
The station opened on 1 April 1934 under Odakyu Electric Railway. Its platforms became side platforms in 1962.
Work to elevate the line and add extra tracks began on 12 June 1994. The design of the station building was chosen on 16 April 1998. The down line was elevated on 10 March 2002. The up line was elevated on 15 December 2002, on a temporary platform.
The up platform moved to a permanent platform on 20 June 2003. The up express track came into use on 3 October 2004, and the down express track on 21 November 2004. Section express service started on 11 December 2004.
The station was built as a future connection to the Tokyo Yamanote Express Railway, a railway that was never completed, so it has an island platform. Station numbering was introduced in January 2014. Section express service ended on 26 March 2016. From 17 March 2018 the platform was lengthened to take longer trains, and Chiyoda Line trains began stopping at every station. Platform doors came into use on 15 December 2019.
