Usami is a railway station in Tokyo.

Usami Station is a ground-level station in Itō, Shizuoka Prefecture, run by East Japan Railway Company. It serves the Itō Line. It opened on 15 December 1938.

History

The Itō Line was extended from Ajiro to Itō on 15 December 1938, and Usami Station opened at the same time. On 1 November 1943 the Railway Ministry was reorganised, and the station came under the Transport and Communications Ministry's railway bureau. On 19 May 1945 that bureau was reorganised as the Transport Ministry's Railway Bureau. On 1 June 1949 the station passed to the Japanese National Railways.

Freight handling ended on 10 January 1963. Luggage handling ended on 15 March 1972. On 1 April 1987 the station passed to East Japan Railway Company (JR East).

A Green Window ticket office opened in March 1993. From 1 April 1997 the station was staffed only in the daytime, and staff-free hours were set. On 12 February 2003 a west exit opened, which could be used only during the staff-free hours. On 16 October 2004 Suica became usable, and the station was included in the Tokyo commuter area.

On 29 June 2007 the Midori no Madoguchi closed. On 30 June 2007 a reserved-seat ticket machine was installed. On 1 October 2009 the whole station became smoke-free. On 16 March 2013 the limited express Odoriko no longer stopped here. At the end of July 2014 the reserved-seat machine was removed. On 8 March 2015 the station became unstaffed, a remote operation system was introduced, and the west exit could be used all day. On 29 March 2015 the departure melody was changed to the children's song Mikan no Hanasaku Oka, linked to Itō. On 1 April 2017 a wheelchair-accessible lift was installed on the footbridge linking the platforms.
