Exploring the Hokuriku Shinkansen network.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen runs from Takasaki to Tsuruga (470.6 km), with its trains starting at Tokyo. JR East runs it as far as Jōetsumyōkō and JR West beyond. It opened to Nagano in 1997, reached Kanazawa in 2015 and Tsuruga on 16 March 2024. Top speed is 260 km/h; the fastest Kagayaki takes 2 h 24 min from Tokyo to Kanazawa and 3 h 06 min to Tsuruga (March 2026 timetable).
