Fujisawa Station (藤沢駅) is a ground-level station with a concourse in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture. East Japan Railway Company runs it on the Tokaido Line. The Odakyu Electric Railway and the Enoshima Electric Railway also run stations here. It opened on 11 July 1887.
History
Fujisawa Station (藤沢駅) opened on 11 July 1887, when the national railway line between the old Yokohama Station and Kozu opened. It handled passengers and freight from the start. The Enoshima Electric Railway opened a station here on 1 September 1902. On 1 September 1923 the Great Kanto Earthquake collapsed the station building. A new station building was completed in September 1924. On 1 April 1929 the Odakyu Enoshima Line station opened in Higashi-Yokosuka, Fujisawa-machi.
On 1 September 1965 an underground passage opened. A level crossing on the east side of the national railway station was closed, and the passenger platform was extended. On 1 October 1969 freight handling moved to the new Shonan freight station. In April 1972 the Enoden moved to a temporary station, and in April 1973 work began to raise its line. The temporary track came into use in May 1973. On 7 June 1974 the current Enoden station building opened. On 15 October 1977 the north underground passage opened. On 1 December 1977 the new Odakyu Fujisawa station building was completed.
On 6 June 1979 an Enoden train overran the stop after a driver error, went over the buffer stop and crashed into a concrete clock tower. Twenty-four people were hurt. On 1 June 1980 the national railway station building became an elevated station building, and a north-south free passage was completed and opened. On 14 March 1985 luggage handling at the national railway station ended. On 1 February 1987 the Lumine Fujisawa store opened. On 1 April 1987, when national railways were split up, the station passed to JR East. On 1 April 1989 a View Plaza opened in the station.
On 1 December 1993 new platforms for the Liner service were built as the first and second platforms, and the old platforms became the third and fourth. Suica could be used from 18 November 2001. On 10 March 2006 the kiosk on the Tsujido side of the JR third and fourth platforms was renewed as Shonan Densha Kiosk. On 3 March 2007 the overbridge and the connecting ticket gate between JR and Odakyu were widened, and automatic gates were installed in all passages. PASMO could be used on Odakyu and Enoden from 18 March 2007. In March 2009 the Odakyu departure board was renewed with full-colour LEDs. Before that it had a three-colour LED display, and before that a flap display.
On 28 April 2017 the View Plaza closed. On 15 July 2021 the station building Lierre Fujisawa reopened after renewal. On 1 October 2024 the departure melody on the JR third and fourth platforms changed to the Fujisawa city song. On 24 January 2026 Odakyu opened a ticket gate on the second floor, and the old exit was reduced in size.
