Futako-tamagawa Station (二子玉川駅) is an elevated station in Tamagawa, Tokyo. Tokyu Railways runs it on the Den-en-toshi Line and the Oimachi Line. It opened on 1 April 1907 as Tamagawa Station.

History

The station opened on 1 April 1907 as Tamagawa Station on the Tamagawa Electric Railway. A Kinu branch opened on 1 March 1924, and a Mizonokuchi line from Tamagawa station opened on 15 July 1927. On 1 November 1929 the Meguro-Kamata Electric Railway opened its Futako-tamagawa station here.

The station was renamed Yomiuri-en on 10 March 1939, and on 1 December 1940 the two stations were combined as Futako Yomiuri-en. On 1 July 1943 the line was re-gauged and linked to the Oimachi direction. The name went back to Futako-tamagawa on 20 October 1944, and became Futako-tamagawa-en on 1 August 1954. The Oimachi Line was renamed the Den-en-toshi Line on 11 October 1963.

The Den-en-toshi Line was raised to elevated tracks in March 1966, with a railway-only Futako bridge. The Den-en-toshi Line was extended from Mizonokuchi to Nagatsuda on 1 April 1966. The Tamagawa and Kinu lines were abolished on 11 May 1969. Automatic ticket gates came into use on 1 June 1974. The Shin-Tamagawa Line opened on 7 April 1977. Through services with the Hanzomon Line began on 1 August 1978, and the Oimachi Line was split off on 12 August 1979.

The Futako-tamagawa-en amusement park closed on 31 March 1985, but the station kept its name. The platforms were rebuilt from 1993. The station was renamed Futako-tamagawa on 6 August 2000, when the Den-en-toshi and Shin-Tamagawa lines were given one name. The station renovation was completed in September 2000.

The Oimachi Line was extended to Mizonokuchi on 11 July 2009. Platform doors came into use on platforms one and four on 12 February 2018. The commuter pass office closed on 15 August 2022. In October 2025 a design error in the signal control was found.
