Higashi-Jujo Station (東十条駅) is a ground-level station in Kita ward, Tokyo. East Japan Railway Company runs it. It is on the Keihin–Tōhoku Line. It opened on 1 August 1931 as Shimo-Jujo Station.
History
Local residents asked for a station to be built in October 1927. In February 1928 the Keihin Line (now the Keihin–Tōhoku Line) was extended from Tabata to Akabane. In May 1929 a national railway bureau meeting decided to set up Shimo-Jujo Station. Construction began in December 1930. The station opened on 1 August 1931, after the line had been extended to Akabane. A remnant of the name is the Shimo-Jujo Unten-ku, a train crew depot.
On 1 April 1957 the station was renamed Higashi-Jujo to match the local place name. Parcel handling ended on 15 October 1966. In October 1967 the southbound platform was rebuilt. On 1 April 1968 the main station building was rebuilt. On 26 December 1969 a southbound Keihin–Tōhoku Line train derailed inside the station, and several people were hurt. On 1 April 1987 the national railway was split up, and the station became part of JR East.
Suica could be used from 18 November 2001. In March 2005 the Midori no Madoguchi counter closed, and reserved-seat ticket machines were installed. On 28 November 2020 smart platform doors began to be used on some platforms.
On 14 October 2023 the south exit became unstaffed all day, and a customer support call system was installed there. On 1 October 2025 the Eki-net Q-Ticket service started.
