Inadazutsumi Station (稲田堤駅) is in Tama Ward, Kawasaki. East Japan Railway Company (JR East) runs it on the Nambu Line. It opened on 1 November 1927.
History
The station opened on 1 November 1927 as Inadazutsumi Stop (稲田堤停留場) when the Nanbu Railway section between Noborito and Ōmaru opened. On 7 August 1928 it was upgraded to a station, and freight handling began. On 1 April 1944 the Nanbu Railway was nationalised, and the station became a station of the Nambu Line under the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Freight handling ended on 25 March 1955. In March 1966 a new overbridge was built, and the station building was rebuilt with a steel frame. Parcel handling ended on 20 November 1974.
On 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR East. A Midori no Madoguchi ticket office opened in March 1993. Automatic ticket gates were installed on 10 February 1994. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001.
Rapid services on the revived Nambu Line began stopping here on 9 April 2011. The start had first been planned for 12 March, but it was postponed because of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Weekday rapid services were suspended on 24 June 2011 and resumed on 12 September 2011. On 15 March 2014 rapid services were extended to the Inagi-Naganuma to Kawasaki section, and the stations on either side, Nakanoshima and Yanokuchi, became rapid pass-through stations. The Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed on 30 January 2015. On 8 February 2015 a remote station control system, now the customer support call system, was introduced.
On 31 July 2018 JR East and Kawasaki City signed an agreement about rebuilding the station as an elevated station and building a free passage. A temporary station building came into use on 6 June 2021. On 6 August 2023 the elevated station building and the south side of the free passage came into use, and the departure melody was changed to Oka wo Koete (丘を越えて). The north side of the free passage came into use on 2 June 2024. Smart home doors began operating on 13 September 2024.
