Kasumigaseki Station (霞ケ関駅) is an underground station in Chiyoda ward, Tokyo. Tokyo Metro runs it. It serves the Chiyoda Line, the Hibiya Line, the Marunouchi Line and the TJ Tobu Tojo Line. It opened on 15 October 1958 on the Marunouchi Line.
History
The Teito Rapid Transit Authority (Eidan) opened Kasumigaseki Station on 15 October 1958, when the Marunouchi Line section from Nishi-Ginza (now Ginza) Station to here opened. On 25 March 1964 the Hibiya Line was extended from here to Ebisu. On 20 March 1971 the Chiyoda Line opened between Ōtemachi and here. In November 1973 large-scale improvement work began on the Marunouchi Line platforms.
On 16 September 1976 the Ikebukuro-bound platform of the Marunouchi Line moved to a new platform. The old island platform was made for trains toward Ogikubo only. The improvement work on the Marunouchi Line platforms was completed in January 1978. Air conditioning of the station began in 1980. On 4 November 1993 a machine for renewing commuter passes was introduced.
On 15 October 2004, as Eidan was privatised, the station passed to Tokyo Metro. On 18 March 2007 PASMO service started. On 15 March 2008 the direct running of Odakyu Romancecar trains into the Chiyoda Line began. On 27 October 2018 departure melodies were introduced on the Chiyoda Line platforms. In 2020 departure melodies were introduced on the Hibiya Line platforms. In 2022 the commuter pass sales counter closed.
