Kita-Kashiwa Station (北柏駅) is in Kashiwa, Chiba. East Japan Railway Company runs it on the Jōban Line (Local). It opened on 10 April 1970 as a freight station.
History
Construction of a freight station began in March 1969. The freight station opened on 10 April 1970 under Japanese National Railways. In March 1970 approval was given for a passenger station, and a groundbreaking ceremony for it was held on 6 August 1970. Passenger service began on 20 April 1971.
Freight handling ended on 1 February 1984. On 1 April 1987 the station became part of East Japan Railway Company (JR East), after the national railways were divided and privatised.
Automatic ticket gates opened on 27 April 1993. Escalators inside the gates opened on 23 August 1994, and a south exit escalator was installed in March 1995. Suica IC cards became usable on 18 November 2001. On 27 May 2006 the Midori no Madoguchi (Green Window) ticket counter closed, and a reserved-seat ticket machine was installed.
A temporary rotary opened on the north side in April 2007. An elevator inside the gates opened on 25 October 2010. A south exit elevator opened on 1 April 2013. The station became unstaffed in early mornings on 1 March 2015. A north exit escalator opened in 2017. Smart home doors (スマートホームドア) began use on 31 January 2022.
