Mabashi Station (馬橋駅) is a ground-level station with an elevated concourse in Matsudo, Chiba, on the Jōban Line (Local), run by East Japan Railway Company. It opened on 6 August 1898 as a Nippon Railway station.
History
The Nippon Railway (日本鉄道) opened the station on 6 August 1898 on its Tsuchiura Line. It was nationalized on 1 November 1906 and assigned to the Jōban Line on 12 October 1909. The Ryutetsu Nagareyama Line (流鉄流山線) opened on 14 March 1916 and also served the station.
The Japanese National Railways took over on 1 June 1949. A Hitachi company private siding opened on 1 October 1967. The station building became elevated on 25 August 1970. In May 1971 the shared use of the ticket gates by the national railway and Ryutetsu ended, and the gates were separated. National railway luggage handling ended on 14 March 1985. Freight handling ended on 1 November 1986.
East Japan Railway Company took over the national railway station on 1 April 1987. Automatic ticket gates opened on 4 June 1992. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001. The Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed in May 2006 and a reserved-seat ticket machine was installed. On 4 July 2021 smart platform doors came into use, the first on the Jōban Line.
