Mukogaoka-Yuen Station (向ヶ丘遊園駅) is a ground-level station in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. Odakyu Electric Railway runs it on the Odakyu Odawara Line. It opened on 1 April 1927 as Inada-Noboriko Station.

History

The station opened on 1 April 1927 as Inada-Noboriko Station. Local trains ran between Shinjuku and this station, and only the direct express ran on to Odawara. A miniature train line opened to Mukogaoka-yuen on 14 June 1927. Express trains began stopping on 15 October 1927. In October 1938 Inada town became part of Kawasaki city.

Express services were stopped during the war in November 1944. In June 1945 all local trains ran the full line and the direct service ended. Semi-express trains began stopping on 1 October 1946, and the Sakura semi-express in September 1948. The miniature electric train was revived in March 1950. The express stop began in December 1952, and a commuter express began on 25 March 1955. The station was renamed Mukogaoka-Yuen on 1 April 1955.

A summer-only rapid express began in 1957, and the platforms were made long enough for six-car trains in October 1957. A commuter semi-express began on 25 March 1960, and a rapid semi-express on 5 November 1964. The miniature train closed in 1965. The Mukogaoka-yuen monorail opened on 23 April 1966. The Romancecar Sagami began stopping here on 1 June 1966. The station became the nearest station to the Tama ward office when the ward was created on 1 April 1972.

The monorail was suspended on 13 February 2000 and abolished on 1 February 2001. The Mukogaoka-yuen amusement park closed on 31 March 2002. The Tama express began on 23 March 2002 without stopping here, and the Shonan express began here. A section semi-express began on 11 December 2004. A new north-south free passage was completed around noon on 30 October 2014, and the Odakyu melody was introduced on 2 September 2011.

Trains on the Tama and Odakyu lines changed on 26 March 2016, and through trains to the Chiyoda Line began stopping during the day. From 17 March 2018 all limited express trains passed through, and the commuter express began stopping here. The south exit building was renewed on 1 April 2019, and the north exit building on 1 April 2020.
