History
Naka-Meguro Station (中目黒駅) opened on 28 August 1927 as an elevated station with facing platforms on two tracks. In February 1963 work began to rebuild the station for Hibiya Line through services. In 1964 the Hibiya Line opened between Kasumigaseki and Ebisu before its Higashi-Ginza to Kasumigaseki section was finished. Vehicles could not be brought in from the Senju depot, so temporary track was laid to bring them underground to here. On 21 July 1964 the rebuilding was finished. The platforms were widened from two tracks to four, and three lift tracks were built on the Yokohama side. On 22 July 1964 Hibiya Line trains began running to here. On 29 August 1964 the Hibiya Line was fully opened between Higashi-Ginza and Kasumigaseki, and mutual through services with Hiyoshi on the Tokyu Toyoko Line began. The station was also added as an express stop on the Toyoko Line.
On 28 September 1967 a train hit the buffer stop on the lift track at the station. On 9 August 1988 the Hibiya Line through section on the Toyoko Line was extended from Hiyoshi to Kikuna. On 16 June 1992 another collision happened on the lift track. On 8 March 2000 a train derailed and collided on a sharp curve inside the station.
On 19 March 2003 the Toyoko Line limited express and the newly created commuter express began stopping here. On 1 April 2004 the Teito Rapid Transit Authority was privatised, and the Hibiya Line station passed to Tokyo Metro. PASMO could be used from 18 March 2007.
On 23 December 2012 the south ticket gate came into use, and the old gates became the front gate. On 16 March 2013 the mutual through service between the Hibiya Line and the Toyoko Line ended, when through running with the Fukutoshin Line began. On 30 March 2014 platform doors began running on the fourth track. On 23 December 2014 platform doors began on the first track, the first on the Toyoko Line except at Shibuya.
Naka-Meguro Elevated Space (中目黒高架下) partly opened on 22 November 2016 and fully opened on 28 June 2017.
