Oshiage is a major railway station in Tokyo.

Oshiage Station (押上駅) is an underground station in Sumida, Tokyo, served by the Hanzōmon Line, TS Tobu Skytree Line and Asakusa Line. It is run by Keisei Electric Railway, Tokyo Metro, Tobu Railway and the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation, and it opened on 3 November 1912.

History

The station opened on 3 November 1912 as the terminal station of Keisei Electric Railway. On 10 March 1945, the station building burned down in the Great Tokyo Air Raid.

On 28 November 1960, the underground station building on the Keisei Line was completed. On 29 November 1960, the Keisei Line station was moved underground. On 4 December 1960, Toei Subway Line 1 opened. On 1 July 1978, Toei Line 1 was renamed the Asakusa Line.

In 1989, the Tobu Isesaki Line station Tokiwabashi (now Tokyo Skytree Station) was linked to this station by an underground passage. On 19 March 2003, through running began between the Tobu Isesaki Line and the Hanzōmon Line, and Oshiage station opened for Tobu Railway and the Teito Rapid Transit Authority (Eidan). Trains from Tokiwabashi, which had been 10-car trains, were replaced by through trains to the Hanzōmon Line and the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line. The underground passage to Tokiwabashi was closed.

On 1 April 2004, when the Teito Rapid Transit Authority (Eidan) was privatized, the Hanzōmon Line stations passed to Tokyo Metro. On 18 March 2007, the IC card PASMO became usable.

On 22 May 2012, Tokyo Skytree Town opened. A second station name, Skytree-mae, was introduced, and the concourse was connected directly to Tokyo Skytree Town at the second basement of its East Tower. On 1 April 2020, an east exit opened as a ticket gate for the Toei Asakusa Line and Keisei Line. The existing ticket gates were named the central exit and west exit.
