Yotsukaido Station (四街道駅) is a station in Yotsukaido, Chiba, on the Sōbu Main Line and the Narita Express (N'EX), run by East Japan Railway Company. It opened on 9 December 1894.
History
The Sōbu Railway (総武鉄道) opened the station on 9 December 1894 under the name Yotsukaidō (四ツ街道). It handled passengers and freight. In September 1907 the Imperial Railways Agency took it over when the Sōbu Railway was bought. On 1 November 1907 it was renamed Yotsukaido Station.
Freight handling ended on 1 February 1974. On 11 December 1981 the station was made an elevated station, to match Yotsukaido becoming a city. On 1 April 1987 the station passed to East Japan Railway Company when the national railway was split up and privatised.
On 3 December 1994 the limited express Home Town Sakura began to stop here, the first regular limited express stop at the station. Automatic ticket gates opened on 11 March 1995. In March 1997 the platform roof was extended to cover longer trains. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001.
On 20 December 2002 the first two floors of the JR Yotsukaido Station Building opened. The whole building opened on 17 February 2003. On 1 October 2003 some Narita Express trains began to stop here.
On 13 November 2010 the south side rotary was completed. The staffed Midori no Madoguchi ticket office (みどりの窓口) closed on 31 January 2022. From 1 February 2022 the station had talking reserved-seat ticket machines.
