History
Ebina station opened on 25 November 1941, when the Odakyu Odawara Line was extended to Sagami-Atsugi (now Hon-Atsugi). At first only trains of the Shinchu Railway stopped at it. On 1 May 1942 Odakyu merged into Tokyu and became the Tokyu Odawara Line. On 1 April 1943 the Shinchu Railway merged with Sagami Railway, and its line became the Sagami Line. The neighbouring Ebina-Kokubu station closed on the same day, and Ebina began passenger service. On 1 June 1948 Odakyu separated from Tokyu and was re-founded.
On 25 March 1960 commuter semi-express services were set up with stops here. On 5 November 1964 Odakyu services to Hon-Atsugi were stopped. On 14 March 1972 the evening downbound express services began stopping here. On 18 December 1972 the station became a stop for all express trains, and the Ebina electric train depot began operations.
On 21 March 1987 the national railways opened Ebina station on the Sagami Line, between Atsugi and Iriya. The city of Ebina paid the building costs, because the station was built at local request. On 1 April 1987 the station became part of JR East. On 19 March 1995 automatic ticket gates were installed, which completed them at all Sagami Railway stations. On 18 November 2001 Suica became usable at JR East. On 18 March 2007 PASMO became usable.
On 30 March 2008 the elevated work between Ebina and Atsugi was completed. On 29 March 2009 a new connecting passage between the Odakyu and Sotetsu stations opened. On 20 August 2010 the free passage project was completed. On 26 March 2016 some Romance car services began stopping here. On 17 March 2018 the Odakyu Odawara Line commuter semi-express began stopping here. On 19 April 2021 the Romance Car Museum opened in front of the station. In 2022 an office building joined directly to the station opened.
On 25 March 2023 a north ticket gate and a north station square opened. On 28 November 2024 large-opening platform doors for limited express trains came into use on the downbound platforms. On 8 February 2025 the same type came into use on the upbound platforms. On 23 August 2025 a second-floor central ticket gate opened for exit only. On 21 June 2026 that gate allowed both entry and exit, and platform doors came into use.
