History
The Hokuso Line station opened on 31 March 1991 as a station of the Hokuso Development Railway (北総開発鉄道). It had one island platform with two tracks then. In 1991, the Musashino Line crossing it had no station here. Before that, Hokuso Line passengers who wanted the Musashino Line changed trains at Shin-Yahashira, using the Shin-Keisei Line (now the Keisei Matsudo Line). When the Shin-Kamagaya station opened, the through service ended, and passengers then needed two changes. Construction of the Musashino Line station began in May 1995. JR East had not planned a station here. Users and Matsudo City asked for one, and Matsudo City shared the cost, paid by the Kamishiki land readjustment association. The Musashino Line station building opened on 14 March 1998, with automatic ticket gates from the start. Before the opening, both lines used the provisional name Kamishiki, a local place name. At opening, it was named Higashi-Matsudo.
On 18 November 2001, Suica became usable at JR East. On 1 July 2004, the company and line names changed, and the station became a station of the Hokuso Line. On 18 March 2007, PASMO became usable on the Hokuso Line. In 2009 an up-only platform was added, but its passing facilities were not used, so the station remained two island platforms with two tracks. On 14 February 2009, the station became a stop for express and rapid trains on the Hokuso Line. In 2010, passing facilities came into use, and the station became two island platforms with four tracks. On 17 July 2010, the Keisei Narita Airport Line (Narita Sky Access Line) opened, and the station was shared with Keisei Electric Railway. It became a stop for access express trains.
On 31 March 2014, the JR East station's Midori no Madoguchi ticket window closed. On 20 October 2015, JR East outsourced the operation of its station.
