Shin-Kamagaya Station (新鎌ヶ谷駅) is in Kamagaya, Chiba Prefecture. Hokuso Railway and Keisei Electric Railway share the station. Its lines are the Shin-Keisei Line, the Narita Sky Access Line, the Keisei Skyliner and the TD Tobu Urban Park Line. It opened on 31 March 1991.
History
The Hokuso Railway opened its Funabashi line between Funabashi and Kashiwa on 27 December 1923. On 21 April 1955, the Shin-Keisei line opened between Kamagaya-Hatsutomi and Matsudo, crossing the Noda line. On 9 March 1979, the Hokuso Kaihatsu Railway opened the first section of its Hokuso line, and a signal station was built here that was meant to become a station later. The crossings in this area then involved several companies. On 28 November 1989, the Tobu Noda Line was made double track between Mutsumi and Shin-Kamagaya, and a signal station was set up here as the boundary between single and double track. It was not planned as a station, but a station was opened here later.
The station opened on 31 March 1991, when the Hokuso line extended from Keisei-Takasago to Shin-Kamagaya. On 8 July 1992, the Shin-Keisei Line station opened and a transfer gate was set up. Through running between the Hokuso and Shin-Keisei lines stopped, and the connecting line between Shin-Kamagaya and Kitahatsutomi was removed. The Tobu Noda Line station opened on 25 November 1999.
Works and changes followed between 2004 and 2009. On 22 February 2004, the Shin-Keisei Line was moved to a temporary line during elevated works, and its platform was moved. The Hokuso Railway was renamed on 1 July 2004. A transfer gate that accepted two tickets was introduced on 5 March 2006. The transfer gate was moved on 28 July 2007, during Narita New High-Speed Railway works. On 10 November 2007, a platform face was added to the Hokuso side, so it changed to two platform faces. The Tobu Noda Line adopted a departure melody on 28 July 2008, and the Fighters anthem on 26 February 2009.
The station changed again from 2010 onward. On 17 July 2010, the Keisei Narita Airport Line opened, and the Hokuso station became shared with Keisei. The Access Express began to stop here, and the Hokuso side was changed to two faces and four lines. Station numbers were introduced for the Shin-Keisei Line in February 2014. The lower platform of the Shin-Keisei Line was elevated on 21 October 2017. A dedicated Shin-Keisei gate opened on 16 June 2019, separate from the shared Hokuso gate. The upper platform was elevated on 1 December 2019. On 14 March 2020, the Tobu Urban Park Line began express service across its whole route, with stops here. Some Skyliner trains began to stop here on 26 November 2022. On 1 April 2025, the Shin-Keisei Line passed to Keisei and its stations became part of the Keisei Matsudo Line.
