Aoto Station (青砥駅) is an elevated station in Aoto, Katsushika, Tokyo, run by Keisei Electric Railway. It serves the Keisei Main Line (KS) and the Keisei Skyliner, and it opened on 1 November 1928.
History
The station opened on 1 November 1928 as a junction station for the planned Nippori to Aoto section. That section opened on 19 December 1931.
In 1959, the station was rebuilt as a station building above the tracks. The platforms were widened from 4 m to 7 m. The two platforms were changed from serving separate lines to serving separate directions. In February 1973, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the grade separation work. On 24 March 1982, the elevated track for the down Oshiage Line opened. On 18 May 1983, the elevated track for the down main line opened. On 24 July 1984, the elevated tracks for the up main line and the Oshiage Line opened. The grade separation work was completed in October 1986.
On 14 March 1989, a shopping center called Your Elm Aoto store opened under the elevated station. On 17 July 2010, a timetable change made Aoto a stop for the City Liner and the Access Limited Express. The express that had stopped at Aoto was abolished.
From 11 April 2020, for the time being, some Skyliner trains stop here. These are the morning down trains and the night-time up trains. From 1 June 2020, some Skyliner trains at about 80-minute intervals also stop here. On 12 June 2020, at about 10:15, a train bound for Haneda Airport from Keisei-Takasago derailed as it entered the station. The train had eight cars. The second axle of the rear bogie on the seventh car went off the track to the right, in the direction of travel. On 1 October 2020, Aoto became a stop for a temporary liner that started at Inba Nihon Medical University and ran to Keisei Ueno.
On 26 February 2022, a timetable change made Aoto a formal stop for some Skyliner trains. On 26 March 2025, a public plaza under the elevated station received a floor design based on Game of Life (人生ゲーム), and roulette-themed benches were installed. The design refers to the nearby Takara Tomy head office.
